Anglo-American inventor of the carbon microphone, which used to be essential to the improvement of telephony.Hughes’smicrophone, invented in 1878, was once the forerunner of the various carbon microphones that have been utilized in most telephones produced in the twentieth century.From 1879 to 1886 Hughes carried out a series of SIL14-H006-02a


experiments by which his equipment transmitted wireless indicators up to 500 yards. The seen effects had been attributed to induction through different scientists. Hughes disagreed however didn’t know how the transmissions had been working. It was not realized until 1899, after German physicist Heinrich Hertz’s radio wave experiments in the late Eighteen Eighties, that Hughes had been the first to provide radio waves.

Danish reformer and politician, cowinner with Klas Pontus Arnoldson of the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1908.He began working for the emancipation of ladies, for the peace movement, and for Scandinavian cooperation. He used to be a founding father of the Danish Women’s Association in 1871 and based in 1882 the Association for the Neutralization of Denmark, which used to be renamed the Danish Peace Association in 1885.
