Czech chemist who obtained the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1959 for his discovery and development of polarography.The work that finally led to the invention of polarography used to be begun in London at Donnan’s suggestion. Polarography is an instrumental method ofchemical analysis used for qualitative and quantitative determinations of reducible or oxidizable materials. Heyrovský’s instrument measures the current that flows when a predetermined potential is applied to 2 electrodes immersed in the way to be analyzed.
